What’s a long-range fuel tank?

Truck bed covers are some of the most popular truck accessories on the market. They protect and secure your cargo and are easy to use. However, choosing the best truck bed cover isn’t always easy. Here’s a look at the different types of truck bed covers and their uses.

Soft rolling

Soft rolling truck bed covers attach to a truck’s side rails and roll up from the rear to the front. You can secure the roll with straps, making it perfect for day-to-day use. You can also drive with the cover fully open, so you can still use your bed to haul an ATV or tall furniture. Rolling covers take about 20 minutes for one person to install with basic tools.

Hard rolling

Hard rolling bed covers are similar to soft covers. However, they’re reinforced with heavy-duty aluminum slats. This provides extra security without sacrificing full bed access. For instance, you can haul your mountain bikes to the trail and securely store your extra gear in the bed while you ride.

Soft folding

Soft folding covers are made from durable vinyl. The vinyl is stretched across a frame and folds up into sections. Installation is a snap as many models attach to the truck’s side rails without tools. The job takes about five minutes. Some models fold up 90 degrees to the cab, offering full access to the bed for hauling large objects. Soft-rolling covers are also lightweight and easy to remove.

Hard folding

You may want to consider a hard folding truck bed cover if you need extra security for your cargo and work in rugged environments. Hard folding covers are made from 2.5-centimetre-thick industrial-strength plastic and hold more than 270 kilograms of distributed weight.

Retractable

Retractable covers are like soft-rolling covers. The major difference is that they roll into a canister inside the truck bed. Retractable covers are usually made from aluminum slats that glide on ball bearings. You can lock them to keep your items secure. Additionally, retractable covers are perfect if you frequently open and close your truck bed. You can also install third-party sport racks and other truck accessories on top of the cover.

One-piece hard lids

One-piece hard lids are made from rugged fibreglass that cover the bed. They open and close using struts and can be locked with a key. Installation requires two people and takes about 30 minutes. You can also match the colour of the lid to your truck for a seamless look.
